General Information

FESTOS RENTALS is committed to ensuring that the information you provide when making your reservation is secure. When making a reservation, your personal details are required for processing the reservation (name, surname, telephone number, credit card details, email address, home address, country of origin, postal code, and date of birth). By submitting your reservation, you consent to the use of this information to complete your reservation. The customer explicitly undertakes not to allow anyone other than those persons appearing as drivers in the Rental Agreement to drive the vehicle, and will be responsible for any damage to the vehicle or third parties in such a case.

Driver’s License: The driver must have held a license for at least one year. His driver’s license must be written in lattin letters or in English (for EU countries), an international driver’s license is mandatory if the driver’s license is issued in countries outside the EU.

Pickup / Return: The delivery and return of vehicles take place at any port, airport, or city in Crete by arrangement. The company reserves the right to cancel a reservation after one hour of delay in delivery if it has not received any updates from the customer.

Required Documents: Upon vehicle collection, you must have with you a valid credit/debit card, identity card or passport, and a valid driver’s license. The driver must hold his license for minimum 24 Months. The credit/debit card must have an available balance sufficient to cover the rental and deposit amount (bond/guarantee). The deposit amount (bond/guarantee) depends on the type and category of the vehicle as well as the selected insurance.
The credit/debit card may be charged for any additional costs that may arise during the rental period.

Payment terms: MasterCard and Visa Credit/Debit cards are accepted for the rental amount. Prepaid, virtual or electron cards (Visa Electron, Maestro) are not accepted for the payment process. A valid credit card on the name of the driver is required for the guarantee amount.

Driver’s Age: The renter-driver must be over 21 years old. The driver must have held a license for at least one year. Drivers aged 20 to 22 have access to categories small and economy cars (automatic or manual) – Drivers aged 25 and over have access to all categories.

Minimum Rental: The rental day is calculated on a 24-hour basis, with a grace period of 1 hour after the declared return or pickup time of the car. In case of late return, more than 1 hour, then another rental day is charged. The company reserves the right, depending on availability, to provide a different type of car from the one initially booked with an equivalent or higher category.

Vehicle Return: The renter must return the vehicle to the agreed location and date as specified in the Rental Agreement. If the vehicle is returned to a different location, there is an additional cost and it is done by arrangement. Also, the fuel policy is same-to-same, meaning that the customer must return the vehicle with the same fuel as received, otherwise, he will be charged for the missing fuel according the current fuel prices plus a refilling fee (20 EUR). The company is not obliged and does not compensate the customer who returns with more fuel, provided he is informed and has agreed to our policy from the beginning.

Vehicle Reservations and Availability

Vehicle Categories vs. Specific Models: The car types listed in our rental offerings are not guaranteed car models, only example models. However, the category and its specifications are guaranteed. When making a reservation, you are reserving a vehicle based on its category or group.

Late-Night Delivery Fee

Out of hours delivery: For reservations scheduled for delivery or pickup between 22:00 (10:00 PM) and 08:00 (8:00 AM), a late-night delivery fee (€40) will apply.

One-Way Car Hire: A one-way car hire allows you to pick up the rental vehicle at one location and drop it off at a different location. One-way rentals are available upon request. Please note that an additional charge will apply, which varies depending on the pickup and drop-off locations.

Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel your reservation, you must provide at least 48 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled pickup time. No amount will be refunded or transferred to another booking period in case of cancellation. After you have picked up the vehicle, any changes to the booking or cancellations made will not be eligible for a refund.

Fuel Policy: The vehicle must be returned with the same level of fuel as when it was collected. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than it had at the time of pickup, you will be charged for the fuel difference based on the current market price. If the vehicle is returned with more fuel than it had when collected, no refund will be provided for the excess fuel. A refilling service charge of 20 EUR applies.

General Conditions for Car Rental: Customers receive the rented vehicle described in the Rental Agreement in perfect working condition, with all documents, tires, windows, tools, and accessories, and undertake to take care of it and return it in the same condition as received. Additionally, customers must respect and drive according to the Greek Highway Code (KOK) applicable in Greece. By signing the Rental Agreement, customers accept the rental conditions and terms as defined by FESTOS RENTALS. In the event of an accident, the renter must immediately inform FESTOS RENTALS and promptly notify the Traffic Police and the Insurance Company.

Special Equipment and Additional Services:

Child seats are available upon request for all ages according to weight, with an additional charge, as well as a Special Navigation System upon request. Due to insurance rules, it is the renter’s obligation to install the seat in the car.
Note: Child seat standards may vary in other countries.

Lost Key / Roadside Assistance: In case of key loss, the renter must promptly inform FESTOS RENTALS to provide the spare key. The key is not covered by any insurance and is considered part of the car. The customer bears the cost of the key €300 and its transportation to them.

Loss of Documents or License Plates: In case of loss or theft of the vehicle’s documents or license plates, a charge of €1000 will apply.

Fines and Offenses: Administrative Penalties resulting from traffic violations committed during the rental period burden the renter entirely, and the company must be informed, a folder management fee of €25 applies.

Non-smoking cars: Our cars are non-smoking cars, a fee of 200 EUR applies in case of smoking inside the car,

Our rates include the following coverages: Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.) – Reduces the liability of the renter for damage to the car up to the amount of the excess,
a) for Car Groups A, B Maximum Charge €700.
b) for car groups C, C1 maximum charge €800.
c) for car groups D maximum charge €1000.
d) for car groups G, G1 maximum charge €1200.

Administrative Folder Management Fees – Management Expenses In the event that the renter has not added any insurance package and the vehicle is damaged, an additional charge of €50.00 will apply along with the cost of the damage.

During the rental period, a security deposit, referred to as the excess, will be temporarily reserved on your credit card. This credit card must be issued in the name of the driver. The excess amount is held as a guarantee against potential damage or other issues with the rental vehicle. Provided that no damage or additional charges are incurred during the rental period, this deposit will be fully refunded at the end of the rental.

Please note that the Basic Insurance included with your rental does not cover certain types of damage. Specifically, it does not provide coverage for:

• Damage to the Underside of the Car: Any issues or harm to the bottom part of the vehicle.
• Tire Damage: Any damage or issues with the tires of the car.
• Breakage of Glass: Any damage to the car’s windows or windshield.

Additional cover: Full Collision Damage Waiver with No Excess (F.D.W.)
The renter can be FULLY exempt from the above-mentioned C.D.W. excess amount with an affordable premium per day,
a) for car groups A, B daily premium cost €12.
b) for car groups C, C1 daily premium cost €13.
c) for car groups D daily premium cost €15.
d) for car groups G, G1 daily premium cost €19.

With this rental package, you do not need to provide a credit card for a deposit. There is no requirement for us to preauthorize any amount as a security guarantee.

However, please be aware that the Optional Insurance included with this package does not cover certain types of damage. Specifically, it does not provide coverage for:

• Damage to the Underside of the Car: Any harm or issues to the bottom portion of the vehicle.
• Tire Damage: Any damage or issues related to the car’s tires.
• Breakage of Glass: Any damage to the car’s windows or windshield.

Use of Vehicle by Renter

The customer agrees to the following terms regarding the use of the rental vehicle:

1. Vehicle Maintenance: The renter must ensure that the vehicle is kept in good condition throughout the rental period. This includes regular checks and upkeep to prevent any damage or deterioration.
2. Traffic Regulations: The renter is required to comply with all traffic regulations, including obeying traffic lights, STOP signs, and speed limits.
3. Road Usage: The vehicle must not be driven off-road or on unsealed, non-paved roads unless specifically permitted.
4. Driving Under the Influence: The vehicle must not be operated under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substances that could impair driving ability.
5. Towing: The renter is not permitted to use the vehicle to tow another vehicle or any other objects.
6. Subletting: The vehicle must not be sublet, rented out, or otherwise made available to any other parties for any purpose.
7. Competitions and Events: The vehicle is not to be used in any competitions, sports events, or races, whether they are official or unofficial.
8. Vehicle Security: When the vehicle is not in use, it must be properly locked and parked in a designated, safe, and secure location.
9. Restrictions on Vehicle Alteration: The renter must not use the vehicle as security or collateral, sell, lease, assign, mortgage, lend, or alter any part of the vehicle.
10. Technical Issues: If there are any signs of a technical failure or malfunction, whether external or internal, the renter must immediately stop the vehicle and address the issue.
11. Driving area: It is not allowed to ferry the car and be driven out side of Crete.

By adhering to these conditions, the renter helps ensure the safe and proper use of the vehicle throughout the rental period.

Conditions Leading to Liability and Exclusions

1. Failure to Take Appropriate Actions After an Accident: In the unlikely event of an accident and the driver fails to stop at the scene, it is a breach of the rental agreement.

The driver must take several critical actions:

1. • • Inform Our Company: Notify our rental company as soon as possible about the accident.
     • Contact Traffic Police: Call the Traffic Police immediately by dialing 100.
     • Obtain Contact Information: Gather the names, addresses, and contact details of all individuals involved in the accident, including witnesses.
     • Do Not Move the Vehicle: Do not move the vehicle from its position until a representative from the insurance company or the Traffic Police arrives at the scene. Moving the vehicle may affect the investigation and could lead to additional charges or liability.
2. Use for Unfair or Illegal Purposes: The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes, but is not limited to: Smuggling, Theft, Illegal Transport of objects or goods that are prohibited by law.
3. Unauthorized Driver: The rental vehicle must only be driven by individuals who are explicitly declared on the Rental Agreement. Any damage or issues arising from unauthorized drivers will not be covered.
4. Racing or Competition: The vehicle must not be used for any type of racing or competitive events, whether they are organized or informal. This includes all forms of vehicle competition and sports events.
5. Off-Road Driving: The vehicle must not be driven off-road or on unsealed streets. This includes: Unpaved Roads: Roads without asphalt or proper surfacing. Beaches and Mountains: Areas that are not suitable for standard vehicles. Damage resulting from such off-road driving is not covered by the rental agreement.
6. Traffic Regulation Violations: The vehicle must be operated in accordance with all traffic regulations. Violations include: Ignoring Road Signs: Disregarding traffic signs and signals. Speed Limits: Exceeding or not adhering to prescribed speed limits. Road Directions: Failing to follow road directions and rules.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is respected and we will not distribute your personal information to any third party which is not involved in your car rental enquiry.

By adhering to these terms, the renter ensures compliance with the rental agreement and avoids potential liabilities and exclusions from coverage.
